Watercolor Wedding Invitation

One of the fun things I had a chance to do for my sister’s recent wedding was to design the invitations and thank-you cards. I’ve never created wedding invitations before, but I love a creative challenge and had such a good time coming up with the design. I would describe my sister’s style as simple, organic, classic and a good mix of old-fashioned and modern.invite5

I painted their names in watercolor, then scanned it into the computer and added the rest of the wording. I then printed the invitations on heavy watercolor paper. We bought the kraft envelopes from NerdyBirdyPaper on Etsyinvite4invite6invite3 I also created these “thank you” cards that were put at each place setting at the reception. The wording is based off this card that we found on Pinterest. I painted the “Thank you” with watercolor, then added the rest of the wording using Microsoft Publisher and printed them on watercolor paper like I did with the invitations.invite2Even after the wedding is over, I’m still looking at the pictures and remembering what a special day it was!

  1. Beautiful! I love these. Simple and classy. I painted some florals and names for my wedding invitations, I’m having trouble piecing it together on the computer though. What computer program did you use to put them together and edit your scanned paintings?

  2. Hi Aimee – were you able to run the watercolor paper through your printer at home? If so, what thickness of paper did you use and what type of printer do you have? Thanks in advance!
